Edge Connectivity

Azion’s robust connectivity strategy helps us deliver the best performance, availability, and resiliency to our customers.

Our highly distributed architecture includes edge nodes strategically located inside ISPs’ (Internet Service Providers) last-mile networks and connectivity to multiple IXPs (Internet Exchange Points), private and public peerings, and tier 1 transit providers around the world.

Edge Traffic Routing

Azion Edge Traffic Router is a distributed edge routing service that improves performance, reliability, and cost by extending SDN to the public Internet. It ensures packets are always delivered through the best network path by dynamically choosing paths based on real-time measurements of how end-to-end network connections are performing: from users and devices, to the edge, to customer’s origins.

Its routing decisions are based on latency, throughput and availability data collected from millions of netflows every second and Real User Monitoring (Azion Edge Pulse), as well as connectivity issues such as packet retransmission and network congestion, along other parameters such as BGP, user location, edge node conditions (e.g. CPU, disk IO, etc.) and more.

Azion's software-defined routing enables real-time response to failures and congestion, both within our network and in the public Internet, and helps us to deliver unprecedented scale, flexibility and efficiency.

Network Security

Our network has built-in DDoS protection on each of our edge locations and also peers with multiple mitigation centers around the world, delivering unprecedented service reliability without impacting performance.

The commitment to building a safer, more reliable Internet is a core value at Azion. As global dependence on a secure Internet increases, it is critical that we safeguard against the many vulnerabilities that web infrastructure is riddled with. To further this mission, we've partnered with many of our competitors and the Internet Society on the MANRS initiative to strengthen Internet routing security.
